5. DRAGON FRUIT

Experimetal / Dragon Fruit
2018, Melbourne, Australia
This experimental video captures the obsessive act of removing every black seed from a dragon fruit—one by one—until the fruit’s surface is stripped of its original form. What begins as a meticulous gesture gradually reveals a quiet violence: a slow erasure that renders the object hollow and disfigured.
Rooted in nihilistic undertones, the work confronts the futility of perfection and the desire to purge the “unwanted.” In the end, nothing remains but a deformed shell—an echo of form, emptied of essence. Through this ritual of removal, the piece meditates on control, decay, and the silent absurdity of human intervention.
